Javier Andrés Morras Cortés

English language teacher and Ph.D. holder, he has accumulated experience of teaching English language over 4 years at high school and undergraduate levels. He is currently a team member of the Cognitive and Functional Linguistics research group at University of Córdoba (Spain), working on the project Researching conceptual metonymy in selected areas of grammar, discourse, and sign language with the aid of the University of Córdoba Metonymy Database (METGRADISL&BASE).

Antonio Barcelona 

Full Professor at the University of Córdoba, Spain (formerly at University of Murcia, Spain), he has lectured extensively as an invited speaker on metaphor, metonymy and cognitive linguistics at several universities and conferences in Spain and abroad (Madrid (2000 and 2008), Rosbruck Centre, Kerkrade, Holland (2002), Lodz, Poland (2005), Braga, Portugal (2003), Soria (Fundación Duques de Soria and Real Academia Española de la Lengua), Stockholm (2008), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Granada (2004), Las Palmas (2004), Pavia, Italy (2003), Leipzig (2003), Barcelona (2011), Düsseldorf (2015), Zagreb, Croatia (2016)), Lublin, Poland (2019), Córdoba (2022), La Rioja (2022), among others.

He has written over a hundred articles and is author or editor of several books published by leading international publishers on these topics. Some of them are Metaphor and Metonymy at the Crossroads. A Cognitive perspective (2003); Metonymy and Metaphor in Grammar (2009); Conceptual metonymy: Methodological, theoretical, and descriptive issues, and Metonymy in Grammar and Discourse (forthcoming).

Meanwhile, he is head researcher or member of the research team in fourteen government-funded research projects on cognitive linguistics and other areas. He serves as founder and first president of the Spanish Cognitive Linguistics Association (AELCO) and board member of ICLA, the International Cognitive Linguistics Association (1997-2001), Associate Editor of Cognitive Linguistics (2009 and 2011), and member of the Scientific Committee of several other international linguistics journals (like Review of Cognitive Linguistics) and of several international linguistics book series. He also serves as consultant of the European Science Foundation, ANEP and ANECA.
