Hoodoo是广州举办时间最长久的Techno活动，也是中国南部Detroit Techno的发源地。

他们的焦点一直集中在保留他们最喜欢的Techno文化方面——爆发性的Techno、黑胶DJs、现场硬件演出、挑衅的视觉——以及充满活力、元气的舞池。

除了邀请一些国内最好的Techno人才，Hoodoo还带来了Developer，Benjamin Damage，Sunil Sharpe，和Hiroshi Watanabe等国际重量级人物到他们的活动。并曾经在Oil作为Support DJ与Lucy，Kangding Ray，Zadig，DJ Stingray，Perc和Oliver Ho(Broken English Club)同台。

5月1日是Hoodoo厂牌发布、全新EP发布巡演的上海站，来电梯一起加入他们的派对，感受在广州潜行已久，令人耳目一新的techno吧。

Hoodoo的创始人们在90年代利物浦的Voodoo之后爱上了Techno，于是一段旅程就这么开始了。回想当时，是Jeff Mills，Surgeon和Dave Clarke这样的先驱传授并改变了人们对跳舞音乐的理解，什么是可能的，什么是重要的。

后来这几位朋友开启了一个名为Hoofer Doofer的电子音乐节。直到十年前搬到了中国开始了他们新的探险。一开始他们在间小小的Bar展开了几场小型的Techno派对，总有那么几个人数不多但却非常忠实的人群出现。他们一直在寻找一些高质量的跳舞音乐 ------ 强而有力的Techno，或是充满未来主义的Funk。在经过不懈的努力后，他们寻找到了志同道合并提供充分支持的朋友。

Techno正在中国开辟疆土逐步成长壮大，而Hoodoo也开始着手发行唱片，以便于引起更多，对于这个一直不断克服各种困难而成为如今电子音乐历程中最新鲜的中国场景的注意力；同时也为保持底特律techno的精髓经久不息蓬勃发展。

Hoodoo的第一个发行是一张涵盖了新老朋友的EP，捕获了底特律与芝加哥舞池风格的链结，同时也是在新厂牌许多发行计划中的首发。

Hoodoo is the longest running techno event in Guangzhou and the home of Detroit techno in South China.

The collective focus has been on preserving their favourite aspects of techno culture – intelligent music, dj craft, live hardware, provocative visuals – and always with energetic, atmospheric dancefloors. 

As well as hosting some of the best domestic techno talents, Hoodoo have also brought international heavyweights such as Developer, Benjamin Damage, Sunil Sharpe, and Hiroshi Watanabe to their events as well as supporting Lucy, Kangding Ray, Zadig, dj Stingray, Perc and Oliver Ho at Oil. 

Hoodoo began its journey when friends and founding members fell in love with techno at Voodoo in Liverpool in the late 90's. Back then, masters like Jeff Mills, Surgeon and Dave Clarke were the pioneers teaching and transforming the understanding of what was possible in dance music and what was important. 

Those friends would later run an electronic music festival called Hoofer Doofer and, when they moved to China a decade ago seeking adventure, they would go on to start a small techno event in a small bar, with a small but loyal crowd, striving to spread the quality of that certain type of dance music -techno with a forceful, futuristic funk. They found friends and found support and through hard work the party grew. 

Techno in China is growing, the boundaries are broadening and Hoodoo now move into releasing records to help bring attention to a Chinese scene that has grown against all odds to one of the freshest in electronic music's evolution and furthermore, to keep the essence of Detroit techno alive in the blossoming arena.

Hoodoo's first release, a compilation EP involving friends old and new, captures the Detroit and Chicago styles of dancefloor communication and is the first of many releases planned for the new label. 

The Hoodoo resident djs come to the floor with decades of experience in some cases and raw talent and enthusiasm in others. You get the full range across the night from Hoodoo, from dub techno and house, to Detroit classics to the latest dancefloor weapons.

SHANGHAI ULTRA

Shanghai Ultra aka Cameron Wilson是中国资深dj和制作人，作为VOID的创始人，他是上海techno历史上最有影响力的人物之一。

从上海Shelter club的第一场活动到最后一场活动，Shanghai Ultra一直是一股推动力量，并与VOID一起，为中国techno舞曲定下了基础，并且邀请了许多世界上最优秀的艺术家在中国举行了首秀。

这位戴面具的DJ直言不讳地批判DJ崇拜文化，他更出名的身份是音乐制作人，并使用罗兰标志性的Tr-909鼓机和SH-101合成器进行现场表演。

2012年，他正式以Shanghai Ultra的名义与MHP一起在底特律Techno厂牌Cratesavers下发行了专辑《四方来朝(The Chinese Connection)》。之后他被的作品被Orlando Voorn 所混音，最近他在上海的新厂牌Volt发行了新专辑 Retrospectivist。

他在HooDoo最新合辑里的作品是No Modular Required，延续了他一贯的风格。

Shanghai Ultra aka Cameron Wilson is a veteran dj and producer in China and, as the founder of VOID, is one of the most influential figures in the history of techno in Shanghai.

From the very first event at Shanghai’s Shelter club to the very last, Shanghai Ultra was a driving force as a dj and, with VOID, set the benchmark for serious techno in China giving many of the world’s best artists their China debuts.

Outspoken critic of the culture of DJ-worship, the masked DJ is even better known as a music producer and for live hardware performances using Roland's iconic Tr-909drum machine and SH-101 synth.

His releases under the Shanghai Ultra moniker begin with 2012’s collaboration with MHP, The Chinese Connection released on Cratesavers, the label owned by the mighty Detroit Techno Militia.

Since then he has been remixed by Orlando Voorn and has most recently released his Retrospectivist Ep on Shanghai’s newest label Volt.

His track on Hoodoo Night Rites is another challenge to perceived trends, No Modular Required.

RAMPTON

Rampton搬到上海之前是中国南部Techno群体中最好的dj之一，他是是一名手指灵巧的混音大师。他以极快的速度在交叉唱机的音轨之间切换，给舞池增添了一种在华南地区的俱乐部里并不常见的活力。总是一种款待，总是将舞池带的砰砰作响!

他不在乎别人怎么想，他只关心听和播放好的音乐，他有一种天生的技巧，可以在任何时间、任何条件下混音。虽然他最出名的是他在Hoodoo的黑胶Techno Set，但是他有着十分广泛的音乐品味—Old school Hip-Hop，Italo Disco和Funk，并十分熟练地混合几乎任何他想要的曲目。 

他知道谦虚是一种美德，但对Rampton来说，谦虚几乎是一种犯罪。他真的是周围最好的dj之一，只是他永远不会告诉你。他从来不会沉迷于社交媒体，所以在你能抓住他的地方抓住他，不要错过他的演出！

RAMPTON was truly one of the best djs in the techno community in South China before his move to Shanghai. He cuts between tracks on the crossfader with speed, giving the dancefloor an energy that issn’t often found in clubs around South China. Always a treat and always banging!

He doesn’t really care what anyone thinks about his style, he just cares about hearing and playing great music and has a natural finesse for mixing at any time and under any conditions. Though best known for his vinyl techno sets at Hoodoo, he has taste in a wide range of music with an encyclopaedic knowledge of old school hip-hop, italo disco and funk and is highly skilled at mixing pretty much anything he wants to. 

Modesty is a virtue but with Rampton it’s almost a crime. He really is one of the best djs around, he’ll just never tell you. A social media addict he will never be. Catch him where you can.

MERRV(LIVE)

Mervv 是个浪漫，贪婪，强力又温暖就像熊抱一样的集合。光怪陆离的音乐材质，经典的鼓融合在一起试图达到和谐的极限，他的灵魂属于沁满汗渍的地下室。他经常在中国和德国演出，例如 Oil, Floating Island, Elevator, Tag, Ost-Apotheke,以及许多可爱的俱乐部。

Mervv今年在Hoodoo发行厂牌会发行他首次的专辑。

他也在Hoodoo的Night Rites专辑有两首歌, Pure Transportation 和 Please Remain Serious.

Mervv's music is a little romantic and a little gritty.  Rough but warm. Like a bear hug. Weird textures, classic drums mangled and pushed to their limits, lovely harmonies. His spirit belongs in a sweaty basement.

He's performed his frequently in China and Germany, at places like Oil, Hoodoo, 44Kw, Elevator, Tag, Ost-Apotheke, and many other small but lovely clubs.

He will release his first eps and albums this year on the new Hoodoo record label.

He features twice on Hoodoo's “Night Rites” compilation ep with “Pure Transportation” and “Please Remain Serious”

TRIBES

英国西北部长大的Tribes在过去20年里十分沉迷于Techno，并经常到Voodoo和Bugged Out等俱乐部跟着Dave Clarke和Jeff Mills等人的音乐跳舞。

他保留了对经典底特律Techno的热爱，同时他也持续在寻找能打破界限、点燃舞池的新音乐。浑厚的低音和抓耳节奏在他的Set里是常见的主体，但他的品味不拘一格。他曾在各种各样的派对上演出，从底特律和芝加哥风格的派对到黑暗的工业EBM和Electro，再到Afro House和Techno，他的音乐选择中充满着多元的声音。

从青少年时期开始，他就在英国组织各种派对，其中最著名的是Hoofer Doofer电子音乐节(Hoofer Doofer Electronic Music Festival)，并把这种经验带到了中国，在广州连续组织了五年多的Hoodoo系列派对。

除了定期在自己的活动中演出，Tribes还多次在Oil作为国际艺人的Support DJ出现，并在其他几个音乐节上演出，其中包括Clockenflap、草莓音乐节和Spirit Tribe。

同时他定期录制播客和混音集，并为Hoodoo微信官方账号撰写文章和活动指南。他还对视觉制作、平面设计颇有兴趣，并正在开始创作自己的音乐，当然他有时他也喜欢睡觉。

Tribes has been a techno addict for the last twenty years after being entranced by the music growing up in the Northwest of England and attending clubs such as Voodoo and Bugged Out and dancing to the likes of Dave Clarke and Jeff Mills.

He has retained a love for the classic sounds of Detroit techno but always looks for new music that pushes boundaries and ignites dancefloors. Heavy bass and textured rhythms are common themes but his is an eclectic taste. He performs at a wide range of parties from the pumping Detroit and Chicago style parties to darker industrial EBM and electro gigs and to the colourful sounds of Afro house and techno.

He has organised parties in the UK since he was a teenager, most notably the Hoofer Doofer Electronic Music Festival, and has brought that experience with him to China, spearheading the Hoodoo techno parties in Guangzhou for over five years.

Alongside regularly performing at his own events, Tribes has supported a number of international acts at Oil and has performed at several other music festivals including Clockenflap, Strawberry Festival and Spirit Tribe.

He records regular podcasts and mixes and writes the articles and gig guides for the Hoodoo Wechat Offical Account. He also takes an interest in visual production, graphic design, and is learning to produce his own music. He also sleeps sometimes.

MHP B2B SENONIX 

(LIVE JAM)

国内的Detroit Techno大师MHP加入我们参加Senonix的 Live Jam.

这位上海”Techno之子”即将在Jeff Mills最有标志性的厂牌Axis Record发行最新专辑，这绝对在底特律场景中带来了大量的关注。

MHP的新专辑《Chang'E》将在4月发行，他这张迷人，且带着太空主题的制作完美保留了Detroit Techno对世界万物的关注。同时这张专辑也会收录一首Orlando Voorn的Remix。

知道HOODOO的朋友也应该已经知道SENONIX这号人物了. 

定居在广州的底特律和Dub Techno的制作人。GZUG厂牌发布他的首张专辑以后，SENONIX主要发展他的现场即兴演出。

Live jam 是什么？

Live jam 与 Live Set全然不同。在Live Set时，他们会事先排练好大部分的场景，知道什么时候该做什么。但是在Live Jam时，我们把从未谋面的音乐家们聚集在一起，他们听对方在做什么，并根据他们所听到的声音通过硬件即兴创作音乐，这种音乐感觉是微妙且随机性的，像这样的音乐只会有一次这样的机会，你必须亲临现场才能感受它的魅力。

毫无疑问，MHP和Senonix的联手Live Jam会将当晚的舞池变为一个科技感十足、 五光十色的壮丽梦境。

Detroit Techno Grandmaster MHP joins Senonix for the Hoodoo Live Jam.

Shanghai’s “Son of Techno” is himself due to release on Jeff Mills iconic AXIS Records label and has been drawing a lot of attention from the Detroit scene. 

His Chang’E 4 album is set for release in April. MHP crafts a mesmeric, space themed release, perfectly in keeping with Detroit techno’s preoccupation with all things cosmic. "Chang'E 4" also features a track remixed by the mighty Orlando Voorn. 

To followers of Hoodoo, Senonix, the Liverpool born, Guangzhou based producer of Detroit and dub techno cuts is no stranger. Following up on his superb EP on GZUG “Waltz for Cydonia,” Senonix has concentrated on his live perfomance in recent years with a shift towards modular synthesisers.  

MHP will join Senonix at Elevator for the live jam. The chance for two expert producers to come together for live experimentation is a great chance to see into the production method and to feel the energy of spontaneous music making. 

With MHP providing the beat and Senonix the melody, it will be a special occasion not to be missed. 

VJ: VSLZR

VSLZR 从2008年开始做VJ，现在是一名视觉艺术家。他主要在地下电子音乐场景中发展自己的视觉感官的刺激。VSLZR 开始在不同的电子音乐场地与派对用不同的视觉方案做尝试，比如Acid Resistance Festivals 和哥伦比亚的Bogotrax。

现在 VSLZR 加入中国南部的地下场景和派对以及营造酸性的氛围。

Kenny Murillo aka VSLZR (Visualizer) is a live visual artist specialising in VJing, Mapping and Multimedia Art.

Having started experimenting with live image manipulation in real time around 2008, Kenny was hooked with developing visual sense stimulation. His work in the electronic music scene in Colombia, mostly in the underground movement, led him to be a key figure in the development of the medium in his native land.

As time has gone on, VSLZR has started to experiment with different methods of visual proposal and presentation, providing images at electronic music events and venues that leave indelible marks on the memories of those that view them.

Although VSLZR is a well known figure in Colombian underground movements and festivals such as Acid Resistance Festivals and Bogotrax, nowadays he is key to setting the vibe in the underground scene and parties of south of China through sharing and creation of a pyschedelic atmosphere.

Whatever the party, VSLZR's smart and surreal visual talents will have your eyes dancing as much as your feet.
